Daivathinte Swantham Cleetus - Cleetus may give another hit for Mammootty

Mammootty has a very interesting year in 2013 with many films featuring him in good, humanitarian roles. But none of the them, except 'Immanuel' had been in that clear commercial grammar, which also affected their Box Office run. The latest from the Mammootty camp for Onam 'Daivathinte Swantham Cleetus' is one film that can help the senior star to find another safe hit. Opening in a light note with plenty of comedies, and progressing through small heroics and culminating in those emotional sequences, the movie will definitely satisfy the fans of the star.

Directed by newcomer G Marthandan and scripted by Benny P Nayarambalam, the movie have Mammootty as a small-time goon, who is selected by a priest to play Jesus Christ in a drama meant for fund-raising for the church. His uncanny resemblance to Jesus Christ in looks and mannerisms -the composure, stillness and glow on the face all forces the Priest (siddhique) to have him in the lead role. Though Cleetus controls himself much, his actual self comes to the fore during rehearsals. And even when the actualities behind the new actor is revealed, the priest persists in his decision of continuing the drama with the goonda guy, in the hope that the character in which he is in the dram has the power to lead his transformation.

The movie has an ensemble cast of Aju Varghese, Thesni Khan, Abu Salim, Rajath menon Suraj Venjaramoodu and P Balachandran who makes merry with their witty one-liners all through the first half. Benny P Nayarabalam succeeds in giving them all fine dialogues to time well and uses many satirical gags on the existing film industry as well, to push the narratives. Mammootty in a very different getup appear energetic than many of his recent films, but has little to do in the acting side expect in the final sequences and make a easy cakewalk through the movie. The lead ladies, including Honey rose were average. But the later half gains a pinch of melodrama, moves around usual Benny P Nayarambalam sequences before concluding into an optimum finale.

The technical sides of the movie are fine with good visuals from Pradeep Nair. G marthandan also will benefit with this film as a 'debut-hit' maker, but needs to fine tune his sequence building abilities. The BG scores are average with no catchy songs in the narrative..

All in all, this 'Cletus, may succeed as a festival escapade and is sure to make the producers merry.

a simple and noble plot said in quiet entertaininf manner..- thats Cleetus...!! 1st haf il thanne athyaavsham mass um comedy um okke vannu..eneettu ninnu kayyadikaan onnum illenkilum flawless narration...!!if u except some mass its there...if you want some one liners...its there...!! but oru kidu padam aakanulla items missing aanu...!!and towards interval one thing is sure...u are into a paisa vasool entertainer...!! idakkide heroism elevate cheyyaan use cheytha bgm kollaam...!! oru decent 1st haf..!! what happens to films like this wid a simple thread is a fall in 2nd haf...!! but here this one escapes from that...!! 2nd haf starting okke nannaayi...idakku onnu drag aavaan pokunnu ennu thonnikumbol flashback varunnu...! and it saves..flashbak ilum cheriya oru mass okke koduthu general audience neyum hold cheythu...!! and it leads to the creative and bold climax...!! now ithinte climax oru expreimental aanennathu ivd nammal mumbe arnju kayinjaarnnu and it was said to be the decider of the movie...!!and yes it is held up well and narrated impressively...!! there was a gud feel here...!!ithinte plot venemenkil commercial pay offs onnum illaathe oru subtle aayum avathrippikkamm..also u cud go for a safe and entertaining way...! and the writer chooses the 2nd way to please all kinda audeince...!!overall it ends as a brave attempt wid good amount of commercial pay offs...now coming into individual inputs...Benny who is goin thru his worst career graph (content wise) comes up with a way better script this time.(sans little loopholes in bw)..!!the charecterisation he has given to Mammookka needs a speacial mention...!! oru cliche aavvan chance ulla charecter kai vidaathe avsanam vare kondu poi...!! some nice bgm's from bijipal and very good visuals from pradeep nair...!! but the man of the day is Marthandan..who brings all his experience and ideas in each and every frame...!! mass okke venda idathu ottumover the top akkathe ennaal nalla reethiyil punch um koduthu eduthu...!! climax ile symbolism is another place wer he has put his heart and soul into...!! now coming to the perfomances each and every charecter passes the frame wid due screen presence...there is not even a single charecter forced into the plot just for the sake of grandness wich we saw in previous script of the writer...!! but its Mammookka who surprises one and all who expected him to be another caricature...!! u will see the STAR in him in mass scenes and the ACTOR in him towards the climax...one of his best perfomances in recent commercial movies...!! he sizzles as Cleetus and pleases his fans and general audience simultaneously....all said and done don get an overhype and expectations form my write up...as said it is a Simple movie said in very much decent way..

a treat for fans and a PAISA VASOOL movie for others..!!im goin wid a 3 stars and an extra .25 for the climax

My Thoughts
From what all i saw from trailer and song, I had 0 expectations from this movie..
Well the movie is definitely not a let down... Film has it's moments and it's a parisa vasool entertainer..
Story wise movie has nothing new to offer, but film moves on with nice pace and ends with a good climax..
Script up till the climax portion is average. First half was ok with the drama setup and rehersal etc..Some comedies evoked laughter while some others were half-baked.
And for me, climax sequence leaves a mark on the audience in an otherwise cliched storyline.
Now it's for the families to decide on the real verdict.. But one thing is for sure, fans won't be disappointed for sure..

Direction wise, Marthandan was ok. Climax sequences could have been executed more convincingly. Felt he hurried a bit to finish the movie..

And Ikka delivered what the character demanded. Nothing more or less..

espeacially towards climax.i would like to say as the great come back of Mammootty to a mass character from the past simple roles.
About the story a man named CLEETUS who is accidentally selected by the drama group Vadakkum Thala Theaters for playing the role of Jesus Christ.
Benny hadn't came up to the mark previous some movies.but this time he gave a better screenplay.as a debut director marthandan who deserved a big claps.Otherartists includes Siddhique , Honey Rose , Aju Varghese,Rajith Menon ,Sanam Shetty ,Suraj Venjaramoodu, Kailash SV, P. Balachandran etc who all done their joa as well.
In one words:Its a simple

Benny's script was not upto his previous ventures wid Mammukka(TM,AT,Chattambinadu) bt way better than his recent ones..Kure kandumadutha kadhakalumayi samyamullath oru negative aayi..Direction by Mathandan was also OK..Didnt get bored..Bgm s by Bijipal suits d situations..

Music could have been made better..Kizhakku Kizhakku Song picturisation was poor

Did the expectation change: Yes, to a very good extent.. Mudi kettiya kalippu fotos kandappol.. pinne Ithente raktham song kettappol.. aa song nte kidu picturization aanenn Manoj bhai yude update vannappol.. cinema yil pratheeksha vechu.. angane First day thanne with family kandu..

Any difficulties to get the ticket: Not really.. Reached there at 7PM.. wanted to watch the 9PM show.. Oolakal ticket 8PM nu sheshame kodukkoo venel reserve cheytho enn.. 8PM nu vannal ticket kittumo enn chodichappol chance kuravaanu.. 8PM show kk ethaanum tickets mathrame appol baakkiyulloo enn.. Risk edukkenda enn karuthi ticket reserve cheythu.. Rs. 15 extra per ticket.. So total 195 per pax.. 4 perkk 780.. not bad na? 4th row ilanu reservation kittiyath.. so avan pani thannathallenn manassilaayi..
